For this big block patchwork baby quilt I used Sandi Henderson’s new fabrics Meadowsweet. I Love these fabrics! The colors are scrumptious and the prints are adorable.
I just bought a bunch of this fabric. Which kind of surprises me because I'm not much into the new, morderny fabrics. But the strawberries on this one sucked me in! :) Your quilt is adorable!
I just love your quilts and had a question for you. I was wondering how, by sewing the quilts on a regular sewing machine you do not get bunches on the back. In other words - how do you keep your back flat? I use a longarm and just got a fold in the back and now I have to fix that. Just wondering? Your new quilt is just gorgeous as usual. Great Job! Laura
Jen, they are big 8.5" blocks before sewn together. Laura, I do not have a long arm and frame. I tape the backing to the floor, layer the batting and top and pin it all together. I haven't tucked in a long time, but hate when that happens. I Quilt on a Pfaff Grand quilter, it is a mid arm.
Beautiful fabrics!! I have a Pfaff Grandquilter too! Great minds think alike! I cut my amy squares to be 8.5 inches also, I hope you don't think I'm stalking you!
ok, since a couple of you have the Pfaff Grand quilter, can I ask a couple questions about it? I want to get a new machine in the future and I'm just so not sure what to get! Does the Pfaff only do a straight stitch? I don't need a lot of fancy stitches but I do use the zig zzg stitch sometimes. Do you like your Grand quilter? Thanks!
Jen, the Grand Quilt does only straight stich, it is intended to be for quilting and piecing. I haven't pieced my tops on mine yet but I do sew the binding with it. It goes super fast. I piece my tops with a 1/4" foot with a guide, I just got this foot for my grand quilter so I am going to give it a try. Especially for stip piecing I think it will go super fast. This is more a second or third machine, you still need a general sewing maching for zig zag and applique stitches.

That's so pretty. There is something about simple patchwork that just never tires me! I love it! What size are your squares?
